Natural IBS Relief Methods that Help Relieve Irritable Bowel Syndrome Symptoms!

Irritable bowel syndrome is a horrible thing to live with. However, there are effective  natural IBS relief methods  you can utilize to fight this painful disease.

Natural IBS Relief MethodsI have a friend that suffers from a very bad case irritable bowel syndrome and to be honest, the attacks can so ugly!

IBS is characterized by a myriad of troubling symptomology. Aside from the hugely bothersome abdominal pain associated with IBS, there’s also the diarrhea or constipation that come with it.

For some truly serious sufferers like my friend, both of the aforementioned maladies can come intermittently.

If you’ve been using enough Imodium to warrant buying stock, you are probably hoping to find a healthier, more natural alternative. Thankfully, we’ve got a few suggestions for your benefit:

Probiotics are Great Natural IBS Remedies

Probiotics are live bacteria, which sounds bad, but some bacteria are actually beneficial. You can find probiotics in supplements (there are dairy free probiotics for those who are sensitive) and things like yogurt and kefir.

And, these lovely bacteria have been found to be helpful in treating IBS. Something you should keep in mind when deciding to add probiotics to your diet is the fact that they alter the ratio of bacteria in your gut.

For some people this is incredibly useful, but for others, not so much. You should discuss this option with your doctor first to ensure that it’s the right choice for you.

Prebiotics Help to Relieve Irritable Bowel Syndrome Naturally

Although there isn’t as much research on these non-digestible carbohydrates, they are worthy of consideration.

They will feed the good bacteria dwelling within your gut. You can find them in things like raw artichoke, asparagus, bananas, garlic, and onions etc.

However, there are good quality prebiotic supplements you can take advantage of.

Since you’re not ingesting live bacteria when you choose to employ prebiotics as an option, it’s more of an indirect way of attempting to alter the microflora within your body.

Eating Fiber Rich Foods is one of the Natural IBS Relief Methods

Fiber Rich Food is one of the Best Natural IBS Treatments

There is some proof that ingesting more fiber can improve cases of irritating, and even debilitating IBS symptoms.

Keep in mind that there are basically two kinds of fiber – soluble and insoluble.

Soluble fiber absorbs a lot of water and forms a gel that slows things down. Thus, it helps to alleviate diarrhea. You can get soluble fiber by eating fruits and vegetables, such as blueberries, oranges, strawberries and cucumbers.

Insoluble fiber on the other hand does not dissolve in water. It bulks up your diet and speeds things up. Thus it acts as a natural laxative and helps to relieve constipation.

Root vegetables, broccoli, zucchini, cabbage, leafy greens and whole grains are some of the foods that are rich in insoluble fiber.

Of course, if you can’t stomach all that good-for-you food, you can consider taking a supplement instead.

Wish I had known about these things when I was diagnosed in the 80’s with IBS. It eventually turned into ulcerative-colitis and was very debilitating for a few years.

The prescriptions I was on did nothing but give me side effects.
So glad it petered out on it’s own after awhile. Now I only get an attack a few times a year.
