#2. Get Enough Vitamin B6

One of the first signs of vitamin B6 is fatigue. So, ensure you are getting enough of this vitamin. Natural sources of vitamin B6 include dairy, fish, shellfish and meat.

It is important to note that certain health conditions such as IBS and Crohn’s can inhibit your body’s ability to absorb vitamin B6, which can lead to deficiency. Certain medications such as diabetes and heartburn medications can also limit Vit. B6 absorption.

In that case, you may need to take vitamin B6 supplements.

#3. Check Your Iron

If anemia (low red blood cells) is the cause of your fatigue, then you may need to increase your iron intake.

#4. Healthy Diet

One of the reasons why you are constantly feeling tired might be due to poor diet. This is why you should strive to always eat healthy if you want to stop feeling tired all the time.

Below are some helpful healthy eating tips you can incorporate into your routine:

Don’t skip meals. When you stay for a long time without eating, your sugar levels lower which makes you feel tired. Eat usually to avoid that.

Healthy breakfast. Start your day with a meal rich in carbohydrate so that your body can get the energy to burn. That will make you active during your day.

Eat balanced diets. Make sure you eat enough vegetables, fruits, carbohydrates, proteins, and Vitamins. Avoid lean meat and low-fat dairy products. Try to reduce sugar intake, high salt foods, and high-fat foods.

Incorporate fish in your diet. Fish has omega 3 oils which are perfect for your heart and also increases your alertness. A particular study was conducted by the University of Siena in Italy. It showed that people who took fish oil capsule for 21 days felt vigorous and also had quicker mental reaction times

Avoid overeating. You might be used to eating three big meals per day. However, if it is causing you to overeat, you can have six mini-meals per day so that you can evenly spread your calorie intake.

Drink enough water. When your body is dehydrated, it makes you feel weak and tired. Take at least 8 glasses of water a day to keep you hydrated.

#5. Get Enough Sleep

Research shows that sleep loss reduces our capacity (body’s stored and available energy). Thus, it negatively affects one’s ability to perform.

Poor quality sleep causes fatigue. You need to sleep at least 7-8 hours every night. Avoid caffeine as it can cause insomnia.

Don’t be tempted to use sleeping pills because they will only work for a short time. Try using natural sleeping aids and essential oils to help you sleep better.

Keep TV and phones and laptop away from the bedroom to avoid distraction and help you get a good night’s sleep.

#6. Quit Smoking

A cigarette has a lot of harmful substances which reduce energy levels in your body. Carbon (IV) Oxide minimizes the amount of oxygen in your body which might also cause you to feel tired.

#7. Quit/Limit Caffeine Intake

While caffeine may help increase your mental alertness and boost your energy, that burst of energy is usually short-lived because it is followed by the “crash”.

The caffeine crash is a sudden and sharp drop in energy level, which comes after the initial increase in energy.

The only way you can sustain energy with caffeine is by consuming more caffeine. However, too much caffeine is NOT good for your health.

Not only can it raise your heart rate and blood pressure, but it can also make you, nervous, anxious and irritable.

#8. Get Off Your Butt

Sitting down for a long time doesn’t help your energy levels at all. Even if your work involves too much sitting, try to have a break after a couple of hours and walk around.

#9. Exercise

This may sound counter-intuitive, but exercise can help increase your energy levels. Being inactive makes your body feel tired.

Not only does physical activity help with energy, but it is also good for your general wellbeing. It may be helpful for blood pressure, anxiety, depression, insomnia and weight loss.

#10. Manage Your Stress

Stress is a common cause of fatigue. In fact, it is the main cause of my fatigue! The stress could be due to a very demanding job, taking care of the kids, juggling career and family or being surrounded by difficult or negative people.

No matter what causes your stress, it is important to learn ways to manage stress naturally.

Managing your stress well can go a long way to increase your energy and stop you from being tired all the time.

Avoid people who stress you and drain your energy or find a way of dealing with them without affecting your mental energy.

#11. Do Some Relaxation Exercise

When you experience anxiety regularly, it drains your energy and leads to burnout. You can try different relaxation techniques such as yoga and meditating to help you recover.

#12. Be Positive, Be Happy!

Sadness, discouragement and hopelessness are big energy drainers. On the other hand, being happy and having a positive attitude can help increase your energy.

So instead of seeing the glass as half empty, why not see it as half full. That simple change in attitude may be what you need to stop feeling tired all the time.

No matter what you are going through, try to find something good and positive to think about. As I always tell my folks, “a thoughtful heart is a grateful heart”.

I’m NOT saying it’s easy, but remember that worrying or being sad will NOT change the situation or make things better. In fact, it only does the opposite – make thing worse.

It will deplete your energy levels and affect your health negatively. So why don’t you try being happy and hopeful? At least that can help increase your energy and improve your productivity.

Conclusion

Persistent fatigue can really affect your overall quality of life negatively. So the earlier you do something about it the better for you!

If you’ve been constantly feeling tired, it’s time to do something about it. Rule out any underlying health issues, change your lifestyle and use natural methods to help increase your energy levels.
