This is because I personally have benefited from their immense healing powers. And essential oils have become a staple in my natural health medicine cabinet.

I even make my own essential oil diys such as headache relief balm, homemade pain relief salve and wake up roller blend.

Ok, enough of the digression! Let’s go back to the best essential oils for cuts and wounds.

7 Best Essential Oils for Cuts, Wounds, Scrapes and Bruises

#1. Lavender

The most versatile essential oils, lavender is my go-to EO for a lot of things. And most importantly it is one of the safest and gentlest too.

However, it is also strong and good for virtually everything. It is good for stress relief, pain relief, sleep problems, skin nourishment and much more.

Lavender has antiseptic properties, which helps to disinfect a cut or wound, thus preventing infection.

And not only is it an amazing healer, but it also prevents scarring.

Research shows that lavender promotes wound healing by accelerating the “formation of granulation tissue, tissue remodelling by collagen replacement and wound contraction through up-regulation of TGF-β”.

#2. Tea Tree

Tea tree oil is a natural antiseptic, antibiotic, antibacterial and antiviral agent. This is why it is very helpful for a variety of conditions including cuts and wounds.

Although the aroma may not be everyone’s cup of tea, it is one of the best essential oils for cuts and wounds.

It disinfects the wound and prevents infections, making it possible for the wound to heal faster.

  1. Patty says:

Are there any oils to use on the elderly to help prevent the thin purple skin which often causes the bleeding. Something to toughen up the skin perhaps?

    • Carol Dike says:

      Hi Patty,
You can try using frankincense essential oil diluted in jojoba oil. Jojoba oil is great for aging skin – it is an emollient, stimulates collagen production (which helps to tighten the skin and make it thicker) and speeds up the healing of wounds. And not only is frankincense a good astringent, but it also strengthens and tightens the skin. Simply add 6 drops of frankincense to an ounce of jojoba oil and use as needed.

I hope you find this blend helpful, but it is important to note that thinning skin is just a normal part of the aging and sometimes we just can’t escape it.

  2. Bernadette says:

For the cleaning recipe, are you using 1/4 teaspoon? Cup? Mills?

    • Carol Dike says:

      Hi Bernadette,
Sorry about the confusion, it was a mistake on my part. I have updated the post to add the missing information, it’s 1/4 teaspoon of carrier oil.
