It may surprise you to learn that you may have one of the most dangerous contributing factors to a number of serious and deadly diseases and neither you nor your doctor may know it – Inflammation.

The best thing you can do is to start with an anti-inflammatory diet. This diet is based on sound nutrition but, limits many of those foods that are high in omega 6s or cause irritation to the body.

While these diets are good and will help to keep that inflammation under control often times these diets simply are not enough.

Most anti- inflammatory diets call for you to add fatty fish to your diet often as much as 3 or 4 times a week.

Most people simply don’t or won’t eat that many helpings of fish.  However, what you may or may not realize is that fish and other seafood is the main source of omega 3 fatty acids.

These omega 3 fats are not only essential to maintaining overall good health, but are necessary to help balance the ratio between omega 6s and omega 3s to help prevent chronic inflammation from occurring.

Health experts suggest that the ratio between omega 6 and omega 3 fatty acids should be between 1:1 and 4:1 (with omega 6 being higher) and the acceptable ratios are somewhere around 6:1.

However, in most people the ratio of omega 6s compared to omega 3s are way out of proportion reaching ratios as high as 20:1.

If such unhealthy ratios continue for an extended period of time then chronic inflammation results.
